Rare Multicolored Dog on Turntable Mechanical Bank (Circa 1895) – H. L. Judd Manufacturing Co., Original Paint, Exceptional Condition
This circa 1895 Dog on Turntable mechanical bank is an outstanding and unusually colorful example produced by the H. L. Judd Manufacturing Company of Wallingford, Connecticut. While this bank is most commonly found in standard gold paint—and less frequently in green or blue—multicolored variants are exceptionally rare. This striking example features a light brown house with green trim, a red roof, and a white dog holding a red tray, making it one of the most visually appealing versions known.
Condition is truly exceptional. The bank retains nearly 95% of its original paint with no chips, cracks, repairs, replacements, touchups, or overpaint. The turntable mechanism operates smoothly, and the bank still includes its original coin trap, a component often missing on surviving examples.
Because multicolored Judd banks were produced in very limited numbers, this rare variant represents a significant upgrade for the advanced mechanical‑bank collector. Its originality, vibrant paint, and fully functional mechanism make it a standout piece of 19th‑century American cast‑iron toy history.
A superb opportunity to acquire a top‑tier, investment‑grade mechanical bank seldom seen in this condition or color scheme.
